National players and officials have offered themselves for questioning so that a thorough investigation into the 12 billion Naira bailout fund paid to the NFF to clear their outstanding monies could be carried out by the anti-graft agencies EFCC and ICPC.
Both EFCC and ICPC are investigating the embattled NFF over the bailout fund paid by the Federal Government to offset outstanding bonuses and allowances for players and officials of the Super Eagles, Super Falcons and Flying Eagles.
The bailout fund later rose from 12 billion Naira to 17 billion Naira to make up for differences in the foreign exchange rates.
A team official of one of the national teams told SCORENigeria: “Thankfully, most of the affected players and officials are alive and will be willing to be involved in the investigations.
“We have not been paid by the NFF more than a year and half since the FG announced this bailout fund.
“Rather what we have been told is that the NFF have allegedly retired the funds.”
A player of the national team added,”We want our money because we earned it but we have not been paid.
“The sad reality is that the NFF have turned us into beggars for what rightfully belongs to us.”
SCORENigeria learnt from a reliable source that one of the NFF bosses has threatened that he will “sing” against the top Government officials who allegedly benefited from his payout.
