INSECURITY: KADUNA GOVT BANS WEEKLY MARKETS IN 5 LOCAL GOVTS

The Kaduna State government on Monday has directed the immediate suspension of weekly markets in Birnin Gwari, Chikun, Giwa, Igabi, Kajuru LGAs following the incessant bandits’ attacks.

The was disclosed by the Kaduna State Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan in a statement on Monday.

Aruwan also said the selling of petrol in jerrycans in Birnin Gwari, Chikun, Giwa, Igabi, Kajuru LGAs have been banned.

He said the decision was taken by the state government after a thorough review of the security situation in the areas and the recommendations put forward by the security agencies.

”The Kaduna State Government wishes to announce the suspension of all weekly markets in Birnin Gwari, Igabi, Giwa, Chikun and Kajuru local government areas with immediate effect.

”The government has also banned the selling of petrol in jerrycans within and outside premises of petrol stations in the five local government areas listed, with immediate effect.
