In a wireless message marked “Most Immediate” and dispatched from Force Headquarters Abuja, several Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) were reassigned to new commands and departments across the country.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olutunji Disu, has approved the redeployment of several senior officers across key departments and formations of the Nigeria Police Force, according to an internal wireless message from Force Headquarters, Abuja.
In a wireless message marked “Most Immediate” and dispatched from Force Headquarters Abuja, several Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) were reassigned to new commands and departments across the country.
The reshuffle saw AIG Ado Emmanuel move into Research and Planning at Force Headquarters, while Joseph Eribo was directed to Armament.
Miller G. Dantawaye was posted to Operations, and Henry Ifeanyi Uche to Training and Development. Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo was assigned to Accounts and Budget, while Dahiru Mohammed, took charge of Zone 15 in Maiduguri.
Dankombo F. Morris was sent to Zone 4 in Makurdi, and Bello Shehu to Zone 14 in Katsina.
Other postings included Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba to Legal Services, Ahmed Musa to Community Policing, and Olohundare Moshood Jimoh to Zone 2 Lagos.
Simeon U. Akpanudom, was redeployed to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos, while Haruna Olufemi assumed responsibility for the Special Protection Unit at Force Headquarters.
The message instructed all formations to update their records accordingly, underscoring the urgency of the changes.
Earlier on Monday, SaharaReporters reported that senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force were set to be decorated today (Monday) following recent promotions, with newly elevated AIGs and Commissioners of Police (CPs) expected to formally assume their ranks.
Sources within the police hierarchy also told SaharaReporters that AIG Jimoh, the outgoing Lagos Police Commissioner, was still actively seeking to retain a strategic role within the state.
The Zone 2 Command oversees police operations in Lagos and Ogun states, while the FCIID Alagbon office serves as a major investigative hub handling high-profile criminal cases.
The Police Service Commission (PSC) recently approved the promotion of Jimoh and 12 Commissioners of Police to the rank of AIG, following written examinations and oral interviews conducted at the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.
Jimoh assumed office in February 2025 as the 41st Commissioner of Police in Lagos, succeeding Olanrewaju Ishola, who was redeployed to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
SaharaReporters earlier reported that Tijani Fatai, a Lagos-born police officer, had been penciled down as a possible replacement for Jimoh as Lagos State Commissioner of Police.
Sources said Fatai, who currently serves as Commissioner of Police for the Eastern Ports Command, reportedly enjoys the support of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State.
