Accidental gun discharge claims life of hunters during wedding celebration in Gombe

A 19-year-old member of a local hunters group has died following an accidental gun discharge in Alkahira Quarters, Gombe State.
Zagazola report that Tanko Abubakar, also known as Walid, was attending a friend’s wedding on Dec. 26 at about 5:00 p.m.
According to the sources, the deceased loaded his Dane gun to fire in the air during the celebration. However, the weapon got hooked, and when he negligently looked through the muzzle, it accidentally discharged, with pellets striking him on the head.
He was rushed to the Specialist Hospital, Gombe, where he was confirmed dead, and his body was deposited at the hospital morgue. His relatives were notified, the sources said.
Authorities have urged members of the public to exercise caution when handling firearms.
