FORMER KATSINA SENATOR DIES AT 62

A former lawmaker who represented Katsina South Senatorial District, Senator Bello Mandiya, has died at the age of 62.

Mandiya died on Monday, September 7, 2026, according to a statement issued by the Katsina State Government.

In the statement, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda expressed shock and sadness over the death, describing it as a great loss to Katsina State and Nigeria.

Mandiya served as Chief of Staff to former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, before being elected to the Senate, where he represented Katsina South from 2019 to 2023 under the Allah Progressive Congress (APC).

Radda described the late senator as a committed public servant whose contributions to the development of Katsina State and Nigeria would be remembered.

The governor condoled with Mandiya’s family, former Governor Masari, the people of Katsina South, his political associates and friends, as well as his colleagues in the Ninth Senate.

He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive Mandiya’s shortcomings, reward his good deeds and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
