Parading the suspect alongside other suspected criminals, the state Commissioner of Police, Patrick Daaor, said Okoro was arrested on August 13, 2026.
He said the police received a report that the 12-year-old apprentice had allegedly been sexually assaulted by Okoro at the suspect’s residence.
According to him, the suspect was subsequently arrested, while investigation into the matter is ongoing.
Daaor assured that the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
Speaking to journalists, the suspect attributed his action to alcohol.
“I defiled a young boy; I was drunk when the incident happened. Alcohol pushed me to commit the crime.
“I am a family man; it was the devil that pushed me to commit the crime,” he said.
Okoro said he was arrested after the victim reported the incident to his master, who subsequently alerted the police.
The commissioner reiterated that the suspect would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigation.
