A 27-year-old man, Ali Haruna, has confessed to allegedly killing and beheading a woman identified as Aisha inside a hotel in Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Haruna, who hails from Kaleri in Maiduguri, Borno State, was arrested last Friday over the gruesome killing at a hotel in Girei town, outskirt Yola, the state capital.
The suspect, who currently resides in Digno community, Fufore Local Government Area, made the confession while speaking to SaharaReporters at the Adamawa State Police Command headquarters in Yola on Monday.
According to Haruna, he met the deceased for the first time at the hotel, where they allegedly smoked Indian hemp and had sexual intercourse before the incident occurred.
He admitted killing the woman, saying he subsequently drank her blood.
The disturbing confession has raised concerns over the circumstances surrounding the killing and the events that preceded it.
The spokesperson for Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the arrest, saying the suspect remains in police custody as investigation into the incident continues.
Nguroje said the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The police spokesperson assured that the command would thoroughly investigate the case and ensure that the suspect faces prosecution in accordance with the law.
