A Nigerian man has opened up about the moment his world fell apart, after his wife allegedly told him he didn’t father any of the four children he raised for over two decades.
The man, who spoke in Yoruba on the Talk with B Podcast, said the confession came out of nowhere one day at home.
“One day my wife told me, ‘Mr man, I should inform you today so it won’t be that I’m wasting your time. You’re not the father of my children,’” he recalled, his voice breaking.
He said his wife insisted all four children belonged to a former partner. What hurt more, he added, was how quickly things changed after that conversation. The children, he claimed, cut off communication and accepted their mother’s version of events.
“These are children I took care of for almost 20 years plus, without sharing bills with her, not even 100 naira. I took full responsibility of everything, even school fees,” he said. “Forget about my body, I am already damaged.”
He admitted he thought about doing a DNA test to confirm the truth. But he dropped the idea when his wife stood her ground and said she was ready to repeat the claim anywhere.
“I left it. She said she’s ready to stand by what she said, so what’s the point?”
The man said the betrayal left him empty. After dedicating his money, time, and life to raising the kids, he felt he had no choice but to step back.
“I told the children, if what your mother said is true, then don’t call me father again,” he said.
