Zulum had travelled alongside Senator Abubakar Kyari representing Borno north, who hails from Damasak, and some officials.
The governor held operational meetings with soldiers and other security forces after which he presented 12 security vehicles which included an armoured personnel carrier (APC) and 11 patrol vehicles to strengthen the armed forces and volunteers made up of trained youth in the civilian JTF, hunters, and vigilantes that are helping in the fight against the insurgents.
The insurgents had occupied Damasak in 2014 as one of their caliphates.
The governor further interacted with the residents, empathised with them and assessed the level of destruction caused by the insurgents.
Zulum assured of some robust measures being put in place to avert future attacks on the town.
He directed the strengthening of agricultural activities in Damasak and assessed a rice farm which his administration had facilitated to enhance food security.
