OBA OF LAGOS VISITS LAMIDO SANUSI

Oba of Lagos, Riliwanu Akiolu has visited the deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi 11 at his residence in Lagos. Oba Akiolu, a prominent traditional ruler in the South-West was the latest visitor to Sanusi who has been receiving many visitors since his arrival in Lagos in the early hours of Saturday.

Sanusi left Awe in Nasarawa state on Friday where he was banished after his deposition by the Kano State Government over “disrespect” to the Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje. On Friday, a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered his immediate release from Awe paving way for his relocation to Lagos.

Since his arrival in Lagos, his house has been turned to a Mecca of sorts where he has been receiving many dignitaries on a solidarity visit, with Oba of Lagos also visiting on Sunday night. Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai had on Saturday led a team of dignitaries to Sanusi’s residence, which included the Presiding Pastor of Latter Rain Assembly, Tunde Bakare; the Managing Director of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Usman, among others. Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State had also visited.

The number of visitors that have come on a solidarity visit cannot be counted,” the source said. Sanusi in a video which was recorded in his Lagos residence has hinted that he would not be challenging his deposition, saying the fact that he became the Emir as he had always wished was a blessing.

He also spoke about breaking the record as the first grandson to ascend the throne. “This is a blessing that I should thank God for; so many things to be thankful for,” he said. He added, “For me I am proud of the years I have put in just like I was proud of the years I put in the Central Bank and I am sure that there would be many more things I would be proud of doing going forward so long as we have life and health which is what we pray for
